The National Council for Board Certification's Code of Ethics applies to all individuals credentialed by NCBC and individuals seeking certification from the NCBC. All applicants and certificants will agree to the NCBC Code of Ethics as a condition of certification in the Interpersonal Whole-Brain Model of Care™. Violating any portion of the Code may result in disciplinary action as outlined in the Disciplinary Policy.
The Code of Ethics establishes the basic ethical standards for the professional behavior of NCBC certificants and candidates. The Code outlines appropriate ethical practice guidelines and enforceable standards of conduct for all certificants and candidates.
The NCBC supports appropriate, professional, ethical standards designed to serve the public, employees, employers, clients, and caregivers. NCBC certificants and candidates must strive to provide high-quality services for deficits and behaviors associated with children or adults with neurobiological challenges such as autism spectrum disorder, acquired brain injury, genetic syndromes, learning differences, intellectual and developmental delays, or emotional, behavioral, and relational challenges in a manner that promotes integrity and reflects positively on the profession, consistent with accepted moral, ethical, and legal standards.
NCBC certificants and candidates must maintain high standards of integrity and professional conduct; accept responsibility for their actions; continually seek to enhance their professional capabilities; practice with fairness and honesty; and encourage others to act professionally, consistent with the certification standards and responsibilities set forth below.
