Introduction:
A Job Analysis Study was conducted in 2022 with the primary objective of identifying, defining, and refining critical knowledge, skills, and responsibilities for Providers and Evaluators implementing the Interpersonal Whole-Brain Model of Care™. The results were then used to guide the development of examinations for IWBMC Providers and Evaluators and to ensure that the IWBMC examinations are valid, and accurately reflect the entry-level skills and knowledge necessary to execute the IWBMC with fidelity.
Methodology:
Employing a robust research methodology, including surveys, interviews, and subject matter expert consultations, professionals from diverse sectors were engaged in three phases of the job analysis study:
1. Initial Development and Validation
2. Validation Study
3. Linking Study and Test Specification Development
This multi-faceted approach ensured a comprehensive understanding of the competencies crucial for successful implementation as an IWBMC Provider or Evaluator.
Key Findings:
The job analysis study resulted in key competency areas (and tasks within each area) that form the foundations of effective IWBMC execution and subsequent examination development. There are seven (7) competency areas for IWBMC Providers and nine (9) for Evaluators. It is important to note that competency areas for IWBMC Evaluators include all seven (7) Provider competency areas plus two additional areas of competency.
The competencies noted above were integral in shaping the structure and content of the IWBMC Provider and Evaluator examinations and served as the basis for crafting examination blueprints, questions, formats, and scoring criteria. By aligning the assessment tool with these competencies, we ensure that professionals are evaluated on dimensions that truly reflect entry-level readiness to serve as an IWBMC Provider or Evaluator.
In conclusion, the job analysis study serves as a cornerstone in the commitment to excellence in our professional assessments. By identifying and defining the core competencies necessary for success in the execution of the IWBMC and for success with the examinations, we equip individuals to thrive in their respective roles, refine our examination processes, and possess a solid foundation for the ongoing improvement of our examinations.
